There is a special place in hell for women that will not help one another.

About This Quote

This quote is a reference to a well-known story about a woman named Mary who refused to help her neighbor when she was in need. In the story, the devil comes to her in the form of a man and tells her that if she doesn’t help her neighbor, she will be responsible for all his evil deeds from thereon in. Unfortunately, this quote has been interpreted as if it were a literal truth. The woman asked the devil to tell her where in hell this place was so that she could avoid going there.

The devil said he would have to take her there himself and show her. It is often pointed out by atheists that this quote is not meant to be taken literally because it is an allegory or parable. It shouldn’t be taken literally because it doesn’t make any sense anyway.
